one down, three to go

Farewell DJ. So much potential, almost all of it unrealized. As Marissa's boyfriend, you had every dramatic license at your disposal. You could have gone insane, beaten people up, gotten girls pregnant...Heck, you could have taken Coop to Tijuana, made her relive the overdose, and then shown Ryan what-for by smoothly handling everything in your native tongue, sans-airlift. What do you do instead? Stand in the background, look old, and get pushed around by Julie Cooper. Didn't you see the first season? You could have slept with Julie Cooper! All you needed was some Bob Seger!

We are now left with Alex, Tucker, and Lindsay. Tucker and Lindsay, you're shit, get out (yes, even that ridiculously low cut top you wore to school can't save you now missy). Alex, on the other hand, you get to stay and rectify DJ's wrongs. If you're going to make out with Mischa, as has been promised, you need to ramp up the drama. Make her wear her hair all wacky. Pimp her out to all the hipster bands that come your way. Kidnap her mysterious horse-riding little sister and keep her in a closet at the Bait Shop, whatever, just jumpstart this girl's drinking habits and send her off towards all the Newport functions you can find. Please.

Oh, and get some Bob Seger. Just in case.

Ahh DJ. We hardly knew ye.

Alex has to stick around, at least till her lesbian ep. Then it's smooth sailing to her own FOX spinoff and carefully timed teen slasher flick. Really, it's all a matter of time.

As for Lindsay- am I the only one who feels like she's the 90210 Andrea of the show, desperately grasping at straws?

Alex needs to bring back the Flock of Seagulls look. I can't believe they just dropped it like that. That type of hairstyle needs to leave with a bang, not a whisper. Perhaps she could have gotten into a car accident, and her Flock of Seagulls hair could have gotten injured. Then the remaining 50 minutes of the episode could have been a tearful tribute to the hairstyle.

DJ sucked. He was even more boring than Tucker. Also, his storyline was kind of tired and overdone.
