Hey EOTM, family members of EOTM, friends of EOTM, and folks who have found themselves here after googling "Bus Stop Whores," I've got a question for you, so get your typing fingers ready. A good friend of mine, the X-Man, has requested help on his search to put together a little something that's been dubbed "The Hand Clap E.P." This is a mix cd that will contain songs "that involve the kind of joyful hand claps that make you not steer your car while you joyfully handclap along with the joyful handclaps."
If handclapping is too limiting, the idea will potentially evolve into something we might dub "The Interactive E.P." which basically involves songs that require handclapping, whistling, or gesturing, all done at a level that is likely to endanger other drivers.
So. Here's where you come in. Give us some suggestions (no Tony Basil or Rembrandts please) and there might be a free car-accident-causing mix cd in it for you.

ok, so here's what we have to start with. don't think about posting these songs cause they're super good ideas that my super good-idea-coming-up-with brain already had.
ted leo-timorous me: a no-brainer
wilco-nothingsevergonnastandinmywaywhatever(again): not actually a clap, but it sounds like a clap, and it makes me stop steering to clap along, and thats what counts
modest mouse-alone down there: the angriest of my hand clapping songs, i even do this other, non-clapping motion to signify the end of the clapping and the reemergence of the chorus
in the "interactive" category I nominate
the who-behind blue eyes: I'm assuming here that most people are like me and mime the entire second half of this song. "But officer, you see, I COULDN'T steer when I hit that other car cause I was busy pretending to put my finger down my throat! Surely you can understand..."

When I think clapping, I think Busta Rhymes "Make it Clap" - I mean, clap is right there in the title so maybe it's too obvious.

I went through my mp3's briefly, and I can offer up these songs as clappy and/or songs that make me move/yell/gesticulate/whathaveyou involuntarily:
Always on my Mind- Phantom Planet
The Bird That You Can't See- Apples in Stereo
This is Radio Clash- The Clash (handclap city)
Echoes- The Rapture (the price is what?!?)

Also, Zak and Sara by Ben Folds has a clappy thing I always do.

Fight Test-Flaming Lips
Again, no clapping to be found here...but i do this super dramatic gesture at the super dramatic pause in the second or third time through the chorus. it rules.
the gesture I mean. the song rules too, but we all already knew that.
holla.

ARRGH!!!!
Thank you Jeff. Thank you for making me remember the song that started me on this thing to begin with.
Take the Money and Run-Steve Miller
Its the same basic clap as the Rembrandts song, but you can clap it without feeling like (quite such a) sellout.
Rock.

Oh! by Sleater-Kinney has quite the handclap (a very slow and purposeful handclap) after the breakdown. It's feminist AND hott.

Is it just me or did "Hey Ya" steal their handclap sequence from "My Boyfriend's Back?"
