Mets vs. Dodgers, Observed

guaranteed to have the time of your lifeNever say that the Employees don't know how to get down. Or, at least, if you're going to say that (and who are we to stop you?) don't say that we don't know how to get down baseball-style. Last night Clo, the Solomonster, K-Na and myself took a little trip to the Chavez Ravine for some Mets/Dodgers action. Oh yeah. On a weeknight no less! We closed that place down! I mean, we missed "fresh" episodes of both the Girls and Tree Hill just to rock it, so you best reckanize. Sure, we tivo-d that shit, but still. The important details from the evening can be found below.

1. The good guys won!

2. K-Na will cheer for anything you yell. Cheer first, and then ask questions later.

3. Josh from Big Brother is STILL obnoxious. But funny when he's on your side (and distracting other fans from your own moderate obnoxiosness)

4. Dodgers fans simply refuse to understand how ridiculous it is to boo Mike Piazza when he was traded by them (and wanted to stay). I am now forced to consider that perhaps they are homophobes. Still, no harm no foul, as Piazza ties Carlton Fisk's home run record for catchers.

5. The Mets should get a mini-portable version of the home run apple for road games, methinks. It would enhance my experience, at least.

6. John Franco, even though you gave up a run and only pitched to two batters, you are still my hero. And Mighty Joe McEwing? I appreciate the one inning you gave for us last night. He's a renaissance man, that kid!

so good. So, for all my talk about missing TV earlier, I did manage to take in American Idol upon returning home. Now, having written numerous reports on her for spanish class, I thought I could safely say that I knew Gloria Estefan, better than most. Por ejemplo, puedo decir que Gloria tiene mucho sex appeal (as they used to say in Hola! magazine). Pero, who knew her songs were so hard to sing well? Sure, I appreciated the Shakira impressions (ass-shaking, always hott) but latin pop was not good for the Idols last night. God willing it's John Stevens going home, but really, as long as it's not Latoya (at left) or Fantasia, or George, or...anyone other than John, I'm happy.
